ABOUT JOHN MICHAEL
I am a husband, a lawyer, and a public servant. After earning my law degree from William & Mary, I was admitted to the bar in Washington, D.C. and selected as a Presidential Management Fellow at the Department of Energy. I served until the DOGE cuts ended my tenure, along with those of thousands of other federal employees across Virginia. That experience gave me a close look at how policy decisions impact the lives of ordinary families.
The issues I am running on reflect what I have witnessed and what I believe Virginia families deserve. I believe that watching injustice without acting is itself a choice. When you have the experience to understand what is happening, the skills to do something about it, and the opportunity to serve, you have an obligation to try.
Virginia gave me that opportunity. I intend to honor it.

REDUCING THE COST OF LIVING
Virginia's cost of living goes up every year through the use of algorithmic price-fixing and pay calibration, keeping Virginians financially constricted. You deserve protection from harmful pricing practices that keep you and your families on tight budgets.

REDUCING YOUR ENERGY BILLS
By expanding Virginia's community solar programs so renters, apartment residents, and those without suitable rooftops can access solar bill credits, to pushing energy efficiency and weatherization programs to prioritize households with high energy burdens, we can cut bills, reduce grid strain, and create local jobs — all at once.

MAKING DATA CENTERS PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE
Data centers are the single biggest driver of Virginia's energy costs and right now, residential customers across all Districts are subsidizing their power. That ends here.
